Position Overview:

Safety Manager – Integrated Electrical Systems (IES)

Shape safety strategy and manage safety certification of Siemens industry leading and rapidly growing integrated EE (Electric/Electronic) solution covering embedded software, networks, electrical distribution system & wire harness. Define and drive realization of functional safety strategy for a substantial group developing software solutions scaling from the enterprise (Capital) down to a micro controller (Volcano). Maintain and expand ISO 26262 functional safety certification for the relevant products including tools and runtime software components.

Role:

  • Formulate, agree and drive implementation of business, marketing, product and technical safety strategy maximizing group’s business & reputation while delivering highest relevant level of safety certification
  • Collaborate closely with market & domain focused business development groups, product focused software development groups, central marketing & operations group and the quality management organization to implement the safety strategy and achieve the safety goals
  • Personally represent and market agreed safety strategy externally and internally and enable others to do this effectively by creating and driving application of reusable collateral and training
  • Achieve and maintain ISO 26262 and other relevant functional safety certifications leading safety teams and driving development teams to conduct safety analysis, develop/apply safety processes, produce safety artifacts/evidence and achieve certification
  • Ensure routine and repeatable delivery of relevant runtime software components as Safety Element(s) out of Context (SEooC) supported by practices and evidence compliant with ISO 26262
  • Engage customers to recognize safety certification of the products and develop and deploy safety critical solutions using them
  • Understand safety market as relevant to the group and establish yourself as an internally and externally recognized expert in it
  • Understand Siemens and Mentor safety initiatives leveraging them to the maximum benefit
  • Drive continuous improvement of product, collateral, architecture, infrastructure, processes, skills and the organization as related to safety

Job Qualifications:

Mandatory qualifications:

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or other engineering/technical/scientific domain
  • Expert knowledge of functional safety and software safety/quality practices
  • Expert knowledge of ISO 26262
  • Experience with safety analysis techniques, such as FMEA and fault-tree analysis
  • Over 3 years of relevant experience involving safety-centric product development
  • Experience in Software Quality processes, such as ISO 9001, CMMI or Automotive SPICE
  • Experience managing teams, projects and programs
  • Ability to work independently, while coordinating with a worldwide team and exercising self-drive, eagerness to learn and take initiative
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to peers, management and customers.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Mastery of designing or auditing Software Quality processes conformant to standards, such as ISO 9001, CMMI or Automotive SPICE
  • Experience in Secure Software Development processes
  • Functional safety certification
  • AUTOSAR usage or development experience
  • Awareness or the ability to absorb the relevant safety standards applicable to the Aerospace industry such as ARP 4754A
